Employment Opportunities

Aileron is seeking a self-motivated, creative problem solver who’s up for the challenge of taking our processes to the next level to join our team as Senior Accountant.

Who You Are

  • You prefer to be in the driver’s seat of your workday and feel empowered to lead autonomously in a non-hierarchical environment.
  • You value collaborating both within your team and interdepartmentally.
  • You’re a lifelong learner and regularly seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • You’re proactive and relish the challenge of developing new approaches, systems, and processes rather than waiting to be told what to do.
  • You’re a strong analytical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • You appreciate process, and even more so, process improvement.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant role is not for your average number cruncher. During your work week, you’ll switch between multiple hats, including:

  1. Process owner: Aileron is ready to evolve our accounting systems and processes. You’ll have creative license to present fresh, scalable solutions as you manage the monthly and year-end close processes, fixed assets, and payroll, as well as ensure financial and tax compliance.
  2. Budgeter and forecaster: You’ll review historic financials and collaborate with team leads to project future expenses and compile both annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  3. Financial reporter: You’ll develop and maintain financial reports to distribute to stakeholders.
  4. Investment committee manager: You’ll act on behalf of Aileron’s Investment Committee, executing trades, facilitating meetings, and maintaining investment policies.

Your Team

  • Your team lead, Lindsey Bahr, oversees general accounting, human resources, and legal. She joined Aileron for the work-life-balance benefits and the opportunity to wear many hats at a small, growing organization.
  • The Accounting team is in growth mode. You’ll be the second member of the team with the opportunity to collaborate directly with leadership and external stakeholders. You’ll have the opportunity to manage a third team member as the team expands.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years experience in accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred
  • Strong Excel skills; general knowledge of accounting systems and GAAP
